The Sushi Thief – Arrested Again

perrelli-stalkingThanks to a reader comment, we learned that a man we previously called The Sushi Thief has been arrested again, on the 24th, and is currently in the county jail with bond set at $25,000.
As noted in our previous article, Mr. Perrelli has had several arrests in the past 13 months.
At West Boca News, we firmly believe defendants are innocent until proven guilty. However, we also firmly believe that prosecutors should vigorously prosecute cases like this and that the court system should hold people accountable when they are guilty.
joe-benavidesOne other arrest of minor note, local Joe Benavides (23) was arrested on marijuana charges. As we’ve said in the past, it is a waste to arrest and prosecute people for drugs. In this case Mr. Benavides seems to be a good guy with a job, no obvious criminal history, and a part of the community with many friends.
We live in a place where violent criminals are routinely let go. Police, prosecutors and courts are valuable resources that should not be wasted harassing someone like Mr. Benavides, who has harmed no one. Those resources should instead be devoted to investigating and prosecuting real crimes – ones with actual victims.
It is worthy of note that he has apparently been open about this with many of his friends, as shown by his Instagram post yesterday, liked by 40 friends.

Monday Morning Arrest Trio

larsen-king-cushing
Fortunately this weekend was quiet compared to the preceding week. But we do have three arrests to report, all from early Monday morning.
David Larsen (left, 57) was arrested for DUI and released. His reported address appears to be in Century Village (east of Lyons and south of Yamato). He may be (now or perhaps was in the past) a volunteer coordinator with Boca Raton Rehabilitation Center. And we see a few traffic cases in the county, but nothing serious in his court history.
Michael King (center, also 57) was arrested for battery. His reported address is in Boca Isles (southwest of Cain and Yamato). We haven’t been able to find much more about him, but he may be related to a Boca Raton city official.
jason-cushing-pole2Jason Cushing (above right, 43) was also arrested for battery, a couple hours after King. We hope he wasn’t demonstrating his pole dancing moves (left) at the time.
This may be the same Jason Cushing who was injured as a teen in a moped accident back in 1986, as reported by the Sun-Sentinel. The age is about right, and his Facebook profile indicates he’s a graduate of Boca Raton High.
From what we can tell, he likes heavy metal, fun cars, and fast women. But not Miley Cyrus. We like this guy.

Mid-December Crime Week

Here are two unrelated violent incidents. Sam Costa (above left, 24) is accused of felony aggravated assault. We see two previous incidents for him in the county, including a felony from 2009 that appears to have been dropped, and a domestic violence misdemeanor in 2011 that was withdrawn by the prosecutor. Costa’s reported address is off SW 18th west of Military Trail.
[Omitted] (above right, 42) is accused of misdemeanor battery. She appears to be a director of the [omitted] homeowners association in the Lakes at Boca Raton. [Omitted] was previously charged with felony assault and battery in 2009, which was reduced to a domestic violence misdemeanor and then resolved in 2010.
[Omitted] and Costa were both arrested early in the morning on the 21st, a couple hours apart. The recent charge against the woman on the right was dismissed, and so we have removed her name from the article.

In our last group we start with Ian Naveira (above left, 28) of Boca Greens. He was arrested on the 18th for reckless driving and attempting to elude the Highland Beach police. In the author’s own professional experience, charges like these are often improperly written by police and difficult for the prosecution to prove.
The incident was written up in the Sun-Sentinel.
Mr. Naveira has had a few other incidents this year in the Palm Beach county courts, including two other felony charges for assaulting an officer (possibly a firefighter or EMT) and impersonating a police officer, apparently to intimidate an escort. That latter incident was also written up in the news.
With Lindsay Farer (middle, 25) was arrested on minor marijuana and drug equipment charges, also on the 18th. She has had several mostly minor incidents in our courts including a felony from April that is still open. From brief research, it appears that Ms. Farer has a good sense of humor and is trying to deal with some kind of substance abuse problems. As far as we’re concerned it’d be a lot better for her, and society, if the government let her take care of that on her own. Arresting someone for marijuana doesn’t help.

We had more arrests to cover, but it was such a busy week we’re leaving some of the stories out.

Mid-December Arrests

boca-mugs-12a
Angela Vieira (left, 32) was arrested for battery in the early morning hours of the 12th and released later the same day. Her reported address is just north of West Boca Medical Center. We see no prior history for her in the county, and this case is being treated as domestic violence by the courts.
[Omitted] (right, 19) was arrested for battery a few hours after Ms. Vieira. His address is just northeast of the intersection of SW 18th and Lyons, across Lyons from Boca Dunes. He appears to be a graduate of Spanish River High, and a past or present student at Palm Beach State. [omitted] He also has a Twitter profile with quite a few tweets. This was our favorite:

And there’s this one from just a few hours after he was released:

We see no prior history for [him] in the county, and his case is being treated by the courts as domestic violence.
Details from the above case were removed upon request after confirming that the case was dismissed.
boca-mugshots-2
Joseph Toner (above left, 50) was arrested for battery just after midnight on the 14th. His reported address is in Loggers Run between Glades and Palmetto. We haven’t found anything more about him or the incident, though we saw someone with a similar name associated with “The Sagamore Group.” This is also being treated as domestic violence by the courts. The only prior history we see in the county for Mr. Toner are some very minor traffic charges from November.
Lisa State (center, 52) was arrested for DUI on the evening of the 15th and released a few hours later. We thought Florida law requires holding DUI arrestees for 8 hours, but we’ve never thought that made any sense. Her reported address is in Boca Pointe, northwest of the intersection of SW 18th and Powerline. In the past she may have managed a “David’s Chicken” in Lakeside Center, and her husband appears to be a financial advisor or planner. She also appears to have a clean history.
Fredy Guzman (right, 33) was arrested for battery last night and has not been released as of yet. His reported address is on Sandalfoot Blvd just east of 441. The courts are treating this as a domestic violence incident. He had a previous case against him back in 2007 for “retail theft” which was dropped by the prosecution.

Recent Arrests: Robbery, Battery and More

lombardi-boszko-turnerThe Sheriff’s blotter shows more arrests from West Boca. West Boca News firmly believes that all arrestees are innocent until proven guilty.
Albert Lombardi (80, above left) was arrested on the 6th for robbery with no weapon. His reported address puts him near the corner of Glades and Boca Rio. Appraiser records indicate he and his wife have had their place since 2002 or longer. Court records indicate he and his family are cooperating with police and he has agreed to stay away from the Bank of America on Glades Road.
Patrick Boszko (24, above center) was arrested on the 6th for battery. It appears he was also arrested in 2009 in the Tampa area for petit theft, which often results from a shoplifting accusation. Court records indicate he has had several visits to the Palm Beach County courts, and this incident is being treated as related to domestic violence. His address, unchanged from the 2009 arrest, is near the corner of Glades and Lyons. He appears to be a fan of the Miami Heat, a number of male athletes, and Nicki Minaj.
Justin Turner (25, above left) was arrested on the 7th for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery causing injury. Note that this does not appear to be the same as the Justin Turner on the Boca Raton Rugby Club. While his address is in Sandalfoot Cove (near the Edgewood condos), we see other indications that he may also live in West Palm Beach, or at least spends a lot of time there. Court records show multiple encounters with the local courts, including two previous felony arrests, and a ticket from the day before for driving with a suspended license.
pelletier-dajnowski-kramer
Fatima Pelletier (35, above left) was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, causing injury, on the 9th. She has not yet been released. Her reported address is just east of Boca Dunes and just north of SW 18th. Per the Sun-Sentinel, she sprayed her estranged husband with pepper spray. The story doesn’t make much sense, as it indicates he entered her home by climbing through a window but there’s no indication he was charged with any crime for that.
Catherine Dajnowski (40, above center) was arrested on what seems like a rather minor charge of improperly making a 911 call. Her reported address is just north of Sandalfoot Blvd on the west side of 441. Court records show many cases for her dating back as far as 1998, as well as cases involving her son (21) dating back to 2005. We see two felony charges including one where she was sentenced back in May of this year.
Lewis Kramer (39, above right) of Island Lakes was arrested on the 10th and has not yet been released. Mr. Kramer has a few incidents on record with the courts, including a few traffic cases and a 2006 felony for which he was sentenced to 5 years in state prison. The current charge, reportedly relates back to an October domestic violence incident and the warrant was issued in late November. That strikes us as an odd pattern of events.
