Parks and Recreation Special Facilities Division seeks 2 volunteers for the 4th of July event at Sunset Cove Amphitheater in South County Regional Park.

They’re looking for the following:
1. General Volunteer & EMS Shadow from 5-8:30pm
This volunteer will be assigned to an EMS Staff Member and will check in with EMS Staff approximately every half-hour to take basic information on any incidents. Information can be handwritten and submitted in person or information can be taken digitally and sent to volunteer coordinator. Volunteer will also help in other areas and will be mostly outside.
2. Kid Zone Volunteer 6-8pm
This volunteer will help staff with Kids Zone, making sure users follow rules and keep the place safe.
Please let them know by June 20th.

New Cell Tower? Yamato at Boca Shores
A reader tipped us off to a new cell tower being deployed inside the Kimberly Substation on the north end of South County Regional Park. The tower is up with equipment to follow.
A few work trucks were scattered around the intersection in front of Boca Shores and the park’s Yamato exit.

Our tipster was curious which cell phone company might be involved. We asked but no one there could tell us. However, one if the guys had an AT&T logo on his shirt. Maybe that’s just a coincidence.
The Kimberly Substation is one of those critical pieces of infrastructure that most of tend not to notice.
But of course, those looking for a secluded place to drink some beers and then discard the refuse know it’s there.
