Update on Westwinds of Boca

westwinds-future
We have reported on the project at Westwinds of Boca. This is the construction at the southeast corner of Glades & 441, in the same plaza as Home Depot and Publix. Our most recent update was about two weeks ago.
Well now we have something more reliable. We called the property management company and they got back to us. What’s going in is a small multi-tenant building with just short of 17,000 square feet. There will be five tenants. Two have executed contracts – VisionWorks and European Wax. There are three others but those contracts have not been completed yet. Rumors of a steakhouse or a drug store are apparently incorrect.
What they’re doing is not as big as we thought it would be. The Walgreens being built in Shadowood will be about the same size and that’s just one store.
Since people keep asking us, we asked and got an answer. There is nothing happening yet with the old Denny’s in Westwinds. They are working on finding a new tenant.

Shadowood & Westwinds Construction Progress

We see a lot of progress in Shadowood Square and Westwinds of Boca, the two plazas on the east side of 441 at Glades Road. We’ve reported on these multiple times: Here and there for example.
In Shadowood, the shell of the future Walgreens is either done or nearly so. Workers were active on site this morning. Construction materials are piled up and ready to go.
On the south side of Glades in Westwinds of Boca (Home Depot & Publix), something big is coming.
Below is a panorama shot that stretches from the AT&T store of the far left to Boston Market on the far right. 441 is in the background of most of the picture. There’s a lot going on.

On the side closer to Glades we were able to get a better view. We think the big structures will underlay the parking but that’s a guess.

West Boca Walmart Hiring Center

We stopped by the temporary Walmart Hiring Center today. We had the pleasure of meeting David Bonutti, who will be managing the reopening West Boca Walmart.

The temporary hiring center is in Somerset Shoppes between a Day Spa and a medical imaging facility, and close to Michael’s.
Bonutti was hopeful that they will be moving into the store at Palmetto Park and 441 in early August. They are aiming for the 4th but it’s still up in the air.
Once they’re in, they expect to open the store six weeks later. That means mid to late September. For now those looking for work can visit the temporary hiring center.

Bonutti seemed upbeat and friendly. That’s a good sign.

Changes at The Promenade

We’ve noticed some big changes happening at Promenade in Coconut Creek. First, as you can see above, they will be adding a theater:

Coming Fall 2014: Silverspot Cinema, a 47,000 square foot multiplex 12-screen theater with leather stadium seating, plus a restaurant.

Their map of the site shows the theater on the currently empty piece of land on the southwest corner of the property behind the south parking structure.

Also Promenade now has a green market on Sundays from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm:

Although Promenade is a few miles south of Boca, we go there and know quite a few others from West Boca who go there too.
Promenade is on the southwest corner of Lyons and Wiles:

Having it on Sunday here is a nice balance with the West Boca green market on Glades at Boca Rio, which is on Saturdays.
